How do I select between 70Watts and 101Watts Universal Power Adapter?

To select a Combotronic power adapter that suits your notebook, you can refer to the rating label on your notebook or the original power adapter as shown below.

Power Rating Guidelines

If the rated input power of your notebook is higher than 70W but lower than 101W, you should choose our 101Watts Power Adapter, XV

If it is less than 70W, HV  or GV  Model of our 70Watts Power Adapter will be your choice.

There is a large variety of portable computers on the market.  Their power consumption usually depends on the performance of display card, CPU type, screen size, etc.  Notebooks can be generally classified as of 40W, 65W, 90W, 120W and 150W.  According to our marketing research, notebooks can be related to their power rating as categorized below.

Power Table
* Please contact our Care Services at cs@combotronic.com for further information.

The main difference between HV and GV is their output voltage range.  Both models have 16 settings, as XV has 10 settings, for selection of correct voltage for proper and safe charging.  Wrong charging voltage may lead to damage of your notebook.

•   HV  supports notebooks with rated voltage :  12.5 - 20Vdc
•   GV  supports notebooks with rated voltage :  16 - 24Vdc
•   XV  supports notebooks with rated voltage :  12 - 22Vdc

How can Combotronic Power Adapter provide different voltages?
(As I need to select the right voltage for my notebook, do I need to consider the voltage requirement of my mobile and other devices?)

The only thing you need to do is selecting the right voltage for your notebook, while the other two (Aux) output voltages are self-regulated according to the (Aux) tips installed.

What would be the consequence if I selected the wrong voltage?

Applying a wrong input voltage may cause malfunction to your notebook or it may even be damaged.  You are strongly recommended to select the right voltage for your notebook before connecting it to our Power Adapter.  However, if the voltage difference is small (within +/-1V), usually there may not be any noticeable problem.

What is the meaning of “Power & Charging”?

Some notebooks will identify their power adapters by means of certain “compatibility” test through the connection to the power adapter.  If it is incompatible, battery charging is not allowed.

To power means just turn it on, while “Power & Charging” means that it not only turns on your notebooks but also charges the battery simultaneously.  For example, our Tip NB205, together with our Power Adapter, “Power & Charges” Dell notebooks while most of the other incompatible chargers can only power it.

What is the meaning of “over 90% efficiency”?

Applying state-of-the-art technology, Combotronic Power Adapter exhibits over 90% efficiency in converting mains input power to the output power for your devices, while most other power adapters’ efficiency is below 80%.  In other words, our Power Adapter is environmentally friendly as wasting less power and saves you money.

What is PFC ( Power Factor Correction)?

PFC is the technique to increase the power factor of an AC power circuit, which is generally desirable for the efficiency and stability of an electrical power transmission system.  Low power factor will reduce your electrical system’s distribution capacity and increase energy losses.

Low power factor also increase your electric bills as many utility companies charge an additional fee for it.  Power adapter with PFC reduces energy losses and saves you money while lending a hand to environmental protection.
